Italy,
Piedmont,
Red wine with a quite ruby, almost tawny core, a much lighter rim; looks like it has got a lot of evolution. The nose is very traditional style here; I would talk about dry wood, dried fruits, dry spices, some notes of caramel. Probably a long time in oak, showing a certain oxidation. Palate has medium weight, with a lot of tannin. Tannins and dry extract are still dominating the palate, whilst the fruit is more on that dried side with notes of prune and dried cherry, with the aftertaste offering some tobacco, some spicy notes. I would say this is a very traditional style; aromatically it has developed, showing some complexity, some oxidation - quite a lot of evolution actually. I still find the palate being slightly on the austere and dry side, with quite rustic tannin on the finish; so probably something that would need on the taste some more time for my palate.
