Portugal,
Peninsula de Setubal,
Dark ruby-red core. Pure nose, quite layered here combining both red and dark berries with the usual stuff. Cassis, plum, a mild spiciness. A slight hint of oak in the background, a touch of vanilla. Quite discreet and elegant but yet with a good ripeness, but no over-ripeness. Good grip on the palate. It is a wine with good density. It has depth and weight, with floral dark fruit with cassis, cherry, dark plum. Quite mild and discreet spiciness, but good flavour intensity here. Long and lingering finish. In particular I think that the tannins are ripe, nicely integrated, underlined by just a slight hint of oak. A touch of vanilla and ginger on the finish. I would happily enjoy this already today even though this will gain much more from further ageing, but a fine example indeed.
